        Întorsura Buzăului is a small town since it covers 6,67 km². We are a rather isolated community, the closest city, Brașov, is at 40 km distance and during winter we register the lowest temperatures(-38.5 was the lowest temperature one winter) - Romania‘s North Pole.

• We are registered as urban area but with rural living conditions;

• Being economically disadvantaged area, finding a job is really difficult, thus, people search working places abroad;

• People developed private initiatives that are in progress;

• We benefit from really nice landscapes  and scenery;

• Rural tourism started developing just a few years ago.

 

       POLITICAL CONTEXT

      Our educational system lacks a real reform which discourages and delays our strategic targets (a highly burdened school curriculum, too many disciplines per year of study and the entire bureaucracy-national or local).

       

       ECONOMICAL CONTEXT

      Our town is a really small one and located in a disadvantaged area, economically speaking. Industry in our town has ceased its place to agriculture and farming. People also started small individual businesses related to producing and processing meat and diaries. Nevertheless, surrounded by forests, people also work in the wood industry.

       

       SOCIAL CONTEXT

       Unemployment rate in our area is rather high; our pupils’ parents are mostly interested in their children‘s activities at school (unfortunately not all).

 

       TECHNOLOGICAL CONTEXT

       We have cable television and signal for mobile networks. Most families own a computer and also have Internet connection.

There is no special public place for Internet access, but most of our public institutions offer access to it.

        GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT SCHOOL

The first school in our area was founded in 1820 as a confessional school, next to the church. The building where the school is now was built in 1929 and continued developing gradually with new classrooms through the years, starting in 1933 up to 1998. 

       At present, our school consists of four additional assemblies (,,Prichindel” Kindergarten, Floroaia Mare Kindergarten, Primary School in Floroaia Mică, Secondary School ,,Gheorghe Zaharia” Brădet) – 1178 children and 88 teachers.

       We used to work in labs: Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Geography, History, English Language, French Language, Romanian Language, Mathematics, Music, Art, Religion, Informatics, Gym, Library. We also have a speech therapist and a school counsellor.
